Curodont™ early enamel repair without the pain, drill, fear, or filling

Happy women

The future of dentistry is today – at Royal Dental Practice. Dr. Roya Shoffet is thrilled to offer her patients in the West Hills, Los Angeles, California area a non-invasive, drill-free way to treat early decay. With Curodont™ Repair Fluoride Plus, Dr. Shoffet reverses the decay process, no fillings necessary!

Why is it important to treat early decay?

When left untreated, early decay can progress and cause extensive, irreversible damage. This damage is often painful. What starts as a superficial loss of natural minerals in the enamel can spread to the deeper, middle, or inner third portion of the dentin layer. These lesions may turn into cavities. The only way to restore cavitated areas is to use an artificial material or filling. Such restorations require drilling and the loss of tooth structure. They also don’t last forever. When fillings fail, more invasive procedures such as root canal therapy and crowns may be necessary to preserve the tooth (or the tooth may be lost and require replacement).

Thanks to Curodont™, Dr. Shoffet intervenes before these lesions become cavities that affect the deeper tooth structure. This approach stops the progression of decay while leaving the tooth intact. Curodont™ treatment also supports the long “life” of the tooth by preserving maximum natural tissue.

How does Curodont™ work?

This proprietary formulation is painlessly applied to the lesion. When in Dr. Shoffet’s skilled hands, Curodont™ safely and precisely diffuses throughout the damaged enamel. This process of enamel repair mimics nature; the fluoride in Curodont™ is designed to restore lost minerals by combining with calcium and minerals in your own saliva. As these minerals are delivered to the damaged area, the enamel is gradually repaired. Natural tooth structure is preserved without drilling, needles, artificial filling materials, and the anxiety and fear that may accompany standard cavity repair.

What can I expect during treatment?

Dr. Shoffet can easily integrate Curodont™ into routine dental check-ups, because treatment takes just three minutes. She starts this quick, easy, and pain-free process by cleaning and drying the treatment site. The site is then etched with a solution to help the Curodont™ formula penetrate deeply and effectively into the lesion. The formula itself is applied with a special applicator and sponge. The liquid is quickly absorbed on the prepared, etched enamel surface. Then you are free to go!

How do I care for my tooth afterward?

Our team will provide you with instructions for caring for the treatment site. In general, do not rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes post-treatment. It is also essential to maintain thorough oral care and a healthy, balanced diet. Keep sugary foods and drinks to a minimum. It is especially important to clean hard-to-reach areas (such as the surfaces between teeth) with floss or other products like interdental brushes and floss threaders. We are happy to recommend the right products and techniques to help your tooth heal.

How long does it take to repair my tooth?

In studies, a significant increase in mineral density throughout the lesion was reported after just two weeks. The entire process may take only months; however, several factors can affect the speed of healing and your results. These factors include oral care, nutrition, and the quality of your saliva. For most patients, all it takes is one application to restore their tooth and avoid further damage and treatment.
