While at Royal Dental Practice in West Hills Los Angeles, California, we are experienced at and enjoy treating “kids at heart,” we also take great pride in gently and effectively caring for “less experienced” pediatric patients. It is our responsibility to acquaint young patients with dentistry in a comfortable, relaxed, not intimidating, and non-judgmental way. Our team, led by Dr. Roya Shoffet-Yaghoubian, gets great satisfaction from working with children – and it shows!
We know how to speak clearly with kids and about dental procedures. So, they know what to expect and aren’t scared of what’s ahead. Our surroundings are as warm and inviting as our dentist and staff. We have also invested in many dental technologies and techniques that support our practice’s most comfortable, gentle, and pleasant experience.
Ongoing dental visits are fundamental to oral health. And oral health is important to overall health and quality of life because we depend on our teeth for so many things – from chewing and digesting our food to our self-confidence. After all, your smile is central to your face and overall appearance. Children with poorer oral health are also more likely than their healthy peers to:
During routine preventive dental visits or check-ups, we also pinpoint and tailor guidance on home hygiene and professional services to your child’s needs. For instance, several toothbrushes and floss products are developed with children’s characteristics in mind. We can demonstrate techniques to help your child clean their teeth more effectively.
Preventive services, such as the application of dental sealants may be integrated during these regular appointments. Sealants are brushed onto decay-prone teeth. Once hardened, sealants protect molars and pre-molars from damage by preventing food particles, bacteria, and plaque from seeping into deeply grooved and pitted surfaces. Other preventive services include fluoride treatment to prevent cavities and the application of Silver Diamine Fluoride to prevent the progression of cavities and strengthen tooth enamel. And oral appliances such as mouthguards to protect the teeth, oral tissues, and jaws from trauma due to blows to the face during sports.
It’s estimated that 85% of “dentophobia” is rooted in negative events during childhood at the dentist’s office. Our priority is to establish a comfortable and trusted dental “home” for your child. Let’s create positive experiences that support healthy, active, joyous lives.
