Our goal at Royal Dental Practice in West Hills Los Angeles, California, is to treat each patient we see like royalty, regardless of age or financial situation. One way we accomplish this is by using safe and effective sedation dentistry. Dr. Roya Shoffet-Yaghoubian provides patients with unhurried, gentle, and friendly care and, when necessary, partners this with relaxing sedation methods like general anesthesia and IV sedation.
Our team continuously works to provide an environment that exudes a sense of ease and well-being. Sometimes, our patients even utilize our available in-home or mobile dentistry services. These approaches all play a part in helping our patients feel at ease from the first moment they interact with us to the last. Dentophobia (fear of the dentist) is all too real, and we want to provide an experience that is able to overcome this.
It is understandable that many possible triggers within a dental office could create anxiety in a patient. The sights, smells, sounds, and sensations of a dental office can all trigger fear, and that is why Dr. Shoffet makes such a concerted effort to discuss and understand these fears before you walk through our door. This allows our entire team to prepare for your visit and to help you mentally prepare.
One specific way we can help patients with dental fear is through our sedation options. Dr. Shoffet offers two sedation options to patients: IV sedation and general anesthesia. IV sedation is the administration of a sedative directly into your bloodstream intravenously. This form of sedation will completely dull your senses but does not put you under completely.
General anesthesia, on the other hand, results in the patient being put into an unconscious state. Both forms of sedation are administered by licensed professionals and are closely monitored throughout your procedure.
Regardless of which sedation method you decide on, it is essential to know that you are in safe and competent hands. You no longer need to let dental phobia stand in the way of you seeing a dentist.
