4 factors that influence the cost of implants for seniors
Dr. Roya Shoffet and Royal Dental Practice understand that cost is a factor when considering different options for treatment. As patients get older, they may encounter tooth loss. Seniors or their caregivers in the West Hills area of Los Angeles, California may search for ways to replace teeth. In their search, they may wonder what dental implants will cost upfront. There are many variables that can influence the total expense that patients are responsible for, and we have highlighted four of those factors below.
1 – Number of teeth that need to be replaced
Implants are a versatile way to replace teeth. They may be recommended to support and replace one tooth, a few teeth, several teeth, or all of the teeth in the upper and/or lower dental arch(es). A single-tooth implant generally costs less than multiple-tooth implants, because more components are involved. Multiple implants may also require additional and more extensive surgical sites/procedures, which adds to the cost of treatment.
2 – Type of appliance
The number of implants and restorations is not the only factor that contributes to the cost of treatment. When choosing from different implant systems, some options for dentures or full-arch restorations cost more than others. For instance, removable dentures that snap stably onto the implants via special connectors generally cost less than non-removable dentures or full-arch options that are fixed to implants in the jawbone.
Restore Your Smile With Dental Implants At Royal Dental Practice
If you’re missing teeth, you may be wondering how best to restore your smile.
Dental implants are considered the gold standard in tooth replacement, and for good reason.
Unlike traditional options, implants replace the tooth root, creating a stable, lasting foundation.
We place a titanium post into the jawbone, which naturally bonds with the bone in a process called osseointegration.
Once secure, we attach a custom crown, bridge, or denture—so your smile looks and feels natural.
You can eat your favorite foods with implants, speak clearly, and confidently smile.
Caring for implants is simple—just brush and floss like you would with your natural teeth.
Implants don’t affect nearby teeth and help maintain jaw integrity and facial structure.
Implants can be customized to fit your needs, whether missing one tooth or several.
Most healthy adults are candidates for implants. We’ll take X-rays or a CT scan to check your bone structure.

3 – Additional treatments
Seniors may have gaps in their smile for a long time. Or, they may be longtime conventional, removable denture wearers. Both of these scenarios can lead to bone loss in the jaw. There must be adequate healthy bone to support each implant. When bone has deteriorated, patients may need to undergo additional procedures. These procedures are largely designed to encourage new bone growth, effectively building up this supportive tissue. Once the bone has healed, patients may move forward with implant placement. Treatments like bone grafting may need to be factored in when budgeting for your implants.

4 – Insurance
Seniors may have government-subsidized, employer-sponsored, and/or private insurance plans. Some of these plans do not cover any portion of the treatment process. Other plans may cover a portion of treatment deemed “medically necessary,” or restorative work such as a percentage of the cost of a crown. As always, coverage varies considerably and is also subject to things like annual maximums and lifetime caps.
