At Royal Dental Practice, we strive to ensure that all our patients get the “royal treatment.” In our pursuit of exceptional care, Dr. Roya Shoffet has also invested in advanced sedation or sleep dentistry. Dr. Shoffet appreciates that our patients from across the West Hills area of Los Angeles, California, have varying needs and experiences with and perceptions of dentistry. We are privileged to help acquaint even the most fearful, anxious, or apprehensive patients with modern, gentle, and non-intimidating dentistry.
Additionally, Dr. Shoffet’s distinguished career has been defined by considerable knowledge and experience with seniors. Your loved one is in good hands. Dr. Shoffet has a unique skill level in caring for the needs of individuals with mobility, cognitive, and other health challenges. These challenges can stand between them and their best smiles, health, and well-being.
Dental sedatives, or medications to help patients relax at the dentist’s office, generally come in different forms or “levels.” Dr. Shoffet and the expert anesthesiologist have the training, expertise, and equipment to provide deeper forms of sedation. Sedatives that induce a deeper state of relaxation are sometimes called “sleep dentistry” because that is what they do – the medications that are administered may induce a state whereby patients become so drowsy that they actually fall asleep.
This sedative is introduced intravenously or through a small tube placed in a vein. In addition to IV sedation, our expert anesthesiologist offers general anesthesia. This alternative induces a loss of consciousness. It can also be appropriate for patients undergoing complex, lengthy, or multi-step treatments.
All patients have peace of mind that their sedative-assisted treatments are performed to the utmost safety standards. Partly, vitals are monitored at every stage. Additionally, treatment can be adjusted quickly. Many of our patients, especially those who have had deep-seated negative associations with dentistry, appreciate that they remember little to nothing about their treatment. This is helpful, in part, because the clinical “triggers” of fear or anxiety are eliminated.
We encourage you to share your concerns with us. We can develop an approach that directly addresses your triggers, fears, and concerns. Your experience, comfort, and safety are our priority at Royal Dental Practice.
